In
the year 1992, F. Speed Bancroft realized his dream of owning
a woodland paradise by purchasing Giles Island. After many
years of looking at various properties, Mr. Bancroft ended
his search with just one tour of Giles. It was love at first
sight. A reminder of the precious times spent with his father
hunting and fishing on a similar piece of land south of
Vicksburg, Mississippi.
Immediately after the purchase, Mr. Bancroft initiated an
intense wildlife management program and developed the infrastructure
for complete recreational enjoyment of the Island. Recognizing
the ecological needs of our society, he established rules
and regulations to preserve its natural resources.
It is our wish to share these resources with a select group
of individuals who are equally enthusiastic in preserving
the quality of our natural environment. The opportunity
to visit Giles Island is intended to be exclusive, allowing
management to control the usage of the Island and ultimately
produce an atmosphere of privacy, comfort, and full amenities.
We intend to preserve the heritage of hunting and fishing
that has been handed down for generations. Our goal is to
keep this heritage alive for many generations to come.
